Happy New Year! Hope 2018 has been a good year for you.   I have been doing my annual rootle through my blog statistics for the year, to see what 2018 most popular recipes are on The Improving Cook blog. Much like the last two years, slow cooker recipes feature heavily, as you'd expect. Interestingly though, all the cake and dessert recipes have been knocked out by more dinner recipes. Read on to see which recipes made the list, followed up with some 2018 blog stats. There are some quite big changes, lots of new entries- read on to find out more! 1.  Slow Cooker Leek and Potato Soup The most popular recipe every year for the last three years, it's easy to make and perfect for winter lunches. My slow cooker leek and potato soup recipe is also the most-visited recipe on the blog ever. It had nearly 16,000 hits this year alone. 2.  Slow Cooker Mexican Chicken One of my personal favourite recipes, it has never featured in the top ten before. I made it as part of a Mexica...

Happy New Year! Hope 2017 has treated you well.   I have been rootling through my blog statistics for the year, to see what 2017's top ten most popular recipes are. Much like last year, slow cooker recipes feature heavily. Read on to see which recipes made the list, along with some 2017 blog stats. 1. Slow Cooker Leek and Potato Soup Also last year's most popular recipe, it's easy to make and very comforting in winter. My slow cooker leek and potato soup recipe is also the most-visited recipe on the blog ever. 2. Happy new Year! The blog has been going for 15 months now and I'm pleased with how far it has come. I can't devote my full-time attention to it and I haven't monetized it, so I am pretty happy with what I have managed to do in the last 12 months. If I am not monetizing it, why am I doing it you might be wondering? Well, it was originally born from wanting to get back into cooking and expanding my recipe repetoire and it still serves that purpose for me. There also does seem to be a market for easy-to-follow recipes and my page visitors are increasing, so, if people are interested in reading, then it's worth carrying on. That's not to say that I have ruled out monetizing it at some point... As 2016 is over, I thought I would do a round up of how things have gone for The Improving Cook Blog- social media followers, popular recipes etc.

So you've started your food blog, and you're whipping up delicious recipes and posting them for the world to read and make at home. You've got a Facebook page, you're tweeting and starting to get some followers and page views from both. You know that Pinterest is the place for foodies but you just don't know how to get started. Maybe you have a personal account that you use a little, or even a lot, but you're wondering how to you use it for promoting your blog? Well if that sounds like you, then I may be able to help a little. I have been where you are, when I started a year ago, and it took me a while to get to grips with Pinterest for my blog, even though I was very confident in using it personally. I learnt a lot about Pinterest from other bloggers, getting some good advice and some bad, as well as learning from trial and error along the way. There are a lot of guides out there for Pinterest, but I could have done with one that was directed at food blogging s...
